Discover a herd of little and large giraffe sculptures, each individually designed by artists and children

Croydon Business Improvement District (BID), in collaboration with creative producers Wild in Art, present Croydon Stands Tall – a large-scale public art event and learning programme, arriving in Croydon this autumn in support of the charity Crisis.

The event will feature more than 30 eight-foot-tall giraffe sculptures that will form a free 10-week art trail for visitors of all ages to explore and enjoy. Each sculpture will be decorated by local artists and communities and sponsored by local businesses, community groups and education organisations – all designed to celebrate Croydon’s extraordinary cultural diversity. Croydon Stands Tall is a free event and is suitable for all ages to enjoy.

About the artists

250 artists have submitted designs for Croydon Stands Tall. All submissions will be reviewed by our expert selection panel who will shortlist a selection of designs to be presented to our sponsors at a special event to ‘matchmake’ sponsors and artists.

The learning programme

Schools and community groups are invited to join the Croydon Stands Tall herd, where they will get the opportunity to design their very own four-foot-tall giraffe sculptures while taking part in a borough-wide learning programme. The sculpture gives an exceptional, creative opportunity to engage pupils in important topics – from environmental issues and the natural world, to science, art, and so much more. After getting creative in the classroom, students will be able to see their stunning giraffe masterpiece on display along the art trail for everyone to admire and enjoy. After the trail, the giraffe is theirs to keep forever.
